PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:  To create a club atmosphere where absolute satisfaction is our highest priority. 

JOB SUMMARY:  Under the general direction of the General Manager, the Assistant General Manager is responsible for the general operation of the club including all activities and the relationship between the club and its membership.  Responsible for all aspects of the operation of the club in the absence of the General Manager.  




  • Assists Club Membership with general information or concerns. Is visible to all membership, maintains and fosters a genuine rapport and relationship with Club Members. 
  • Welcomes new members and conducts "meets & greets" when practical for our club members. 
  • Reviews and initiates programs to provide members with a variety of popular events. 
  • Oversees the Membership department operations and Membership Director.



  • Manages all aspects of the club in the absence of the General Manager. 
  • Oversees the general operation of the Club through the supervision of its various Department Managers and Professionals.  
  • Oversees the operation and maintenance of the Club's physical facilities, including the clubhouse, all athletic facilities, the club grounds and all related facilities. 
  • Oversees the clubhouse operations and the Clubhouse Services Director. 
  • Works closely with the F&B Director and assists the Food and Beverage Management Staff in their efforts to create a first-class food and beverage operation within the Club which is compatible with the needs and wishes of the Membership. 
  • Monitors safety conditions and employee's conformance with safety procedures, updates emergency plans and procedures and assures that effective training for these programs is conducted in these departments. 
  • Assures that the club's preventive maintenance and energy management programs are in use. 
  • Participates in on-going facility inspections throughout the club to assure that cleanliness, maintenance, safety and other standards are consistently attained. 
  • May serve as a departmental manager in that manager's absence. 
  • Assists in the planning of facility improvements, remodeling, construction and repair and interacts with applicable club committees for this purpose. 
  • Consistently assures that the club is operated in accordance with all applicable local, state and federal laws.



  • Assists the General Manager in developing and implementing long-range (strategic) and annual (business) plans, operating reports, forecasts and budgets. 
  • Coordinates with the GM, the development of operating and capital budgets according to the budget calendar, monitors monthly and other financial statements for the club; takes effective corrective action as required. 
  • Functions as an administrative link between departments. 
  • Oversee  information technology functions of the club, including but not limited to managing outsourced IT support group, overseeing hardware/software purchases, telephone system, comcast business accounts POS, printer systems. 
  • Manage all licensing for the club, i.e.  equipment/software, music, liquor, food licensing, etc.   
  • Monitors internal cost control procedures. 
  • Establishes and monitors compliance with purchasing policies and procedures. 
  • Monitors labor; evaluates scheduled and actual labor hours and costs. 
  • Researches new products and develops an analysis of their costs and benefits. 
  • Reviews all accidents, and preventative measures to rectify. 
  • Works with department heads to plan professional development programs for applicable staff. 
  • Conducts training and other meetings with departmental staff. 
  • Attends management and staff meetings as scheduled. 
  • Undertakes special projects as requested by the General Manager 



  • 5 + years experience in a Country Club Setting or Hospitality Industry.
  • Must be able to work as a team interacting with all personalities within the department. 
  • Must have excellent problem solving skills, and be able to make sound operational decisions.
  • Must have management experience be an assertive supervisor with excellent soft skills.
  • Positive attitude, professional demeanor and must be a good leader & communicator with all levels at the club.
  • Professional appearance, must be comfortable interfacing with membership and their guests.
