As a DCC golf course Crew Leader you will be expected to have advanced knowledge of all agronomic practices pertaining to the everyday maintenance of a private 18-hole country club golf course and report directly to the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent. You will be expected to complete daily tasks with high efficiency and detail and assist in the supervision of seasonal employees and other grounds crew members. Outlined below are the duties and responsibilities of a DCC Crew Leader, which include but are not limited to:



Knowledge of All Equipment and Training of Seasonal Staff

  • Large equipment operation such as trucks, tractors, mowers, etc.
  • Assist in training new employees on maintenance equipment.
  • Enforce safe working conditions on the golf course and around the maintenance facility.

Golf Course Setup

  • Inspect and report daily conditions of your assigned section of the golf course to the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.
  • Set and cut new hole locations on the greens daily.
  • Direct golf cart and equipment traffic with the use of signs and ropes.
  • Monitor the conditions of all bunkers and bunker rakes located in your section.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Delegate work assignments to seasonal employees and interns.
  • Oversee the completion of daily section work and assist with decisions regarding the aesthetics and playability of the golf course.
  • Supervise and follow up on job performance of seasonal employees and relay any disciplinary problems to the Assistant Superintendent.
  • Help with filling out the daily job board and run the employee morning meeting if needed.
  • Record keeping
  • Fertilizer and pesticide calibration and application.
  • Weed and disease identification.
  • Topdressing of greens, tees, and fairways.
  • Hand watering (ability to properly identify drought stress and know how much water to apply to different playing surfaces).
  • Irrigation maintenance and repair.



  • Follow specific oral and written daily instructions.
  • Work 40-60 hours/week, depending on the time of year.
  • Work every other weekend (approximately 10 hours total for both days).
  • Report to work on time. The grounds crew typically starts at 6:00 AM on Monday-Thursday and 5:30 AM on Friday-Sunday. Lunch is provided on weekdays.
