The Junior Counselor will assist in providing a safe and memorable atmosphere during summer day camps, sports activities and social events involving the junior membership of The Denver Country Club.



  • Arrives to work on time, ready to work.
  • Supervises and engages with juniors during summer camps and social activities.
  • Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
  • Administers care to campers' minor injuries, such as small cuts and bruises.
  • Enforces rules and the three-strike policy to create a safe and fun environment for all.
  • Maintains order and discipline with the children, using positive feedback.
  • Informs Youth Director of unresolved member or guest disruptions.
  • Be a strong role model for the juniors, both verbally and with their actions.
  • Encourages positive participation of all juniors, leading by example through actions, interactions and participation in all camp activities.
  • Communicates with Supervisor about incidents involving a junior's behavior while following the DCC Code of Conduct and three-strike policy.
  • Contributes to all setup/breakdown of summer camps, junior activities, and social events.
  • Responsible for organizing and cleaning junior areas and taking care of activities and equipment.
  • Contributes and assists in creating and facilitating daily camp activities.
  • Maintains daily log of activities, such as number of juniors in program, incident reports, and juniors' behavior.
  • Helps serve lunch and snacks to campers.
  • Adheres to directions and assignments given by Youth Director.
  • Presents professional appearance and positive attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
  • Attends meetings and in-services as directed by the Youth Director.



  • Prior experience working with children in sports, recreation, and social events.
  • Individuals must be enthusiastic, hard-working, and willing to develop a positive rapport with children and adult members.
  • Preference will be given to those with availability from June through mid-August (11 weeks of summer camps).
  • Special skills such as being proficient in and able to teach a particular sport and/or ability to play and share a musical instrument and/or originality in crafts will be advantageous; contributes to organization of and suggests new camp activities.
  • Position shifts will mostly fall between 7 am and 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Must be certified in CPR and First Aid. (Can be provided if needed.)
